PVFCCo inaugurated CO2 exhaust recovery system

On 14 September, Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) inaugurated the construction project of the system recovering CO2 from the exhaust of Phu My Fertilizer Plant. The project aims to increase annual urea fertilizer output of the plant by about 60,000 tons, while reducing 40,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year to protect the environment.

On 14 September, Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) inaugurated the construction project of the system recovering CO2 from the exhaust of Phu My Fertilizer Plant. The project aims to increase annual urea fertilizer output of the plant by about 60,000 tons, while reducing 40,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year to protect the environment.


Thus, immediately after the CO2 recovery system is put into operation, the design capacity of Phu My Fertilizer Plant will reach 800,000 tons of urea per year, contributing to increase the fertilizer supply on the domestic market.

The project broke ground in early January in 2009 with the total value of over $ 27 million. It used CO2 recovery technology of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Japan) - one of the most advanced CO2 recovery technology in the world today, which allows thorough recovery of CO2 from industry exhaust.


The system provides CO2 with the purity of 99%, this amount of CO2 will be mixed with residual ammonia (NH3) of the plant to create urea. Samsung Engineering is the general contractor of this project and has completed the project five months ahead of schedule. With the withdrawal of 240 tons of CO2 per day, the corporation would gain an additional benefit of VND 200 billion.
