Energy efficiency programs achieve good results

EVNSPC has directed Power Companies to coordinate with the localities to propagate the Law on Energy Efficiency and Conservation; strictly implement requirements, directives, resolutions and instructions of the Government, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Electricity of Vietnam on saving power.

EVN Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) is promoting energy saving programs and solutions, while making plans to timely implement the National Program on Energy Efficiency in 2011-2015, with the goal of mobilizing electricity users in the area to save from 1 to 1.5% of electricity consumption, contributing to the conservation of 5 to 8% of total consumption of the power sector in the country as planned by the Program. In general, the power saving movement has begun to spread in the society.

EVNSPC has directed Power Companies to coordinate with the localities to propagate the Law on Energy Efficiency and Conservation; strictly implement requirements, directives, resolutions and instructions of the Government, Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Electricity of Vietnam on saving power.

EVNSPC has coordinated with central and local radio stations, televisions to develop dissemination programs on power saving, energy efficiency, while delivering on radio and television stations in the units under the Corporation.
Provincial Power Companies have signed joint contracts with the Federation of Labor, Youth Union, Women’s Union, Farmers Association, Veterans’ Organization and professional associations in propagating energy saving and monitoring the power supply, customer service; protecting the gridline, fighting power theft.... Power Companies have coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade, Energy Conservation Center to build energy audit programs to help businesses see the benefits of energy saving, so that they shall strongly apply and invest in the innovation of equipment, technological lines which consume less power. State agencies and people have developed the movement to save electricity, take the saving result as one of the criteria to evaluate achievements of the units...

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Duy, General Director of EVNSPC, said: The unit’s powers saving programs have obtained positive results. In the first six months of 2011, the unit has saved 215 million kWh, equivalent to 1.39% of commercial electricity, exceeding 0.19% of the plan in 2011. Notably, through propaganda, agencies, units and the society have enhanced the awareness of energy saving from the activities to the production and trading. Many state agencies and people have considered choosing to use energy saving devices; businesses have raised the awareness of using machinery or equipment which consumes less energy in production.
