Ha Giang Built Solar-Powered Illumination Model

In order to implement efficiently the National Target Programme for economical and efficient use of energy in 2015, Industrial and Trade Promotion Center of Ha Giang Province implemented the project “Construction of pilot solar-powered illumination model at Square 26-03, Ha Giang City”.

In order to implement efficiently National Target Programme for economical and efficient use of energy in 2015, Industrial and Trade Promotion Center of Ha Giang Province implemented the project “Construction of pilot solar-powered illumination model at Square 26-03, Ha Giang City”. Up to now, illumination system has been operated, fundamentally reaching the target of the project.

The project aims to build an illumination model using eco-friendly and clean sources of energy, creating a modern landscape for a green city. Particularly, Square 26-03 is a recreational, sports and historical relic, a place of organization of outdoor activities of the province and also a rest point for influxes of tourists visiting Global Geological Park – Dong Van Rock Plateau.

Under the project, 6 lamp posts are arranged around Square 26-03, which is an airy, favorable position with abundant sunlight. The distance between lamp posts is from 27 meters. Each post is 12 meters in height with 02 250W solar panels, 01 12V-200AH battery box. LED lights with high efficiency are used; each light has an efficiency of 90W and design life of over 100,000 working hours. With the efficiency of 90W, LED lights create luminous flux equivalent to the efficiency of Compact fluorescent lamp (170W), incandescent light bulb (600W) and high-pressure sodium lamp (250W), saving more energy and having much greater working life than the lights used previously.

Renewable energy powered illumination system efficiently satisfying demand for public lighting at night is a model to be developed on streets and new urban areas. Concurrently, the model also provides basic specifications, scientific research results to draw experience lessons for the future development and expansion in some locations such as pavements of two embankments of Lo River, Cau Me-Ha Phuong roads, roads to Ha Giang City, urban area of Quang Trung Ward and other locations.

The investment in construction of solar-powered model to serve public lighting is essential and suitable to national guideline for power saving, plan of economical and efficient use of energy in areas of Ha Giang province (period of 2013-2015) and Guideline of Prime Minister on orientation of urban scape illumination in Vietnam to 2025, which is the application of scientific and technological advances, especially the exploitation and use of new renewable sources of energy in public lighting in order to save and enhance efficiency of power consumption and environmental protection.

This is the most particular and typical model to propaganda to people about the efficiency of construction of solar panel system connected with power grid to save electric power used in households while electric energy saving has become an ever pressing and necessary issue.
