SunHydro, a hydrogen refueling company is launching their first hydrogen station that will be open to the public. The refueling point will be made available starting Friday in Connecticut, USA, in an attempt of the firm to create a chain of hydrogen refueling stations from Maine to Florida.

The management of the exploration and exploitation of natural resources should be strengthened to preserve valuable assets for younger generations, according to attendants of a conference in Ha Noi last week. This idea was put forth by experts from several sectors to discuss the draft of the amended law on mineral resources exploitation.

The cells that power the bicycle use sodium silicide, a powder similar to sand. In combination with water, the substance “instantly creates hydrogen gas”, that is further on used to generate energy. Moreover, excess electricity is stored in batteries that are safe and fully recyclable.

Giám đốc điều hành tập đoàn năng lượng tái tạo Iberdrola (Tây Ban Nha) cho biết Iberdrola SA sẽ tiến hành xây dựng công viên điện gió lớn nhất thế giới đầu tiên trên đất liền ở Romani với công suất 600 MW.

On September 26th, Thai An Hydropower Joint Stock Company inaugurated Thai An Hydropower Plant - one of 15 key projects to celebrate the 15th Party Congress of Ha Giang province. Thai An Hydropower Plant is built in Thai An commune (Quan Ba district) and Thuan Hoa commune (Vi Xuyen district). The plant has the capacity of 82MW, with the total investment of more than VND2,000 billion, According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Dao, Chairman of the Board, General Director of Thai An Hydropower JSC.

According to the Pedegopress release , “The announced battery-fuel cell hybrid system is compatible with all existing Pedego bicycles and batteries. For every 1.5 lbs. of weight a rider carries, an additional 700 watt-hours of energy is available (compared to ~350 watt-hours for an ultra-high performance lithium-polymer battery at a weight of 7 lbs.).

The inventor says his device can cut the energy use by 25%. Moreover, it can prove itself healthy for those who suffer from asthma, allergies, of whatever age or sex. CleanAir supposedly removes particles, viruses, ozone, bacteria, organic solvents, hydrocarbons and cigarette smoke from the air.

Vertical axis wind turbines have recently been revived by a few innovations made to them by scientists all over the world. Sauer Energy is one of them, and their turbine has a high efficiency because it’s designed to maximize the drag, so the blades are moved more efficiently by the wind.

Engineering researchers from Tufts University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Harvard University have demonstrated the low-temperature efficacy of an atomically dispersed platinum catalyst, which could be suitable for on-board hydrogen production in fuel-cell-powered vehicles of the future.

The thing on the left is a snail, and it’s called abalone. Aside the fact that it’s edible, the abalone taught Angela Belcher, from MIT, how to turn carbon dioxide into rock-solid construction materials and thus sequester the gas for hundreds of thousands of years, instead of burying it underground, which is not as safe and as useful.

China has shown fresh interests in the development of hydropower in Nepal. “There are opportunities for Chinese hydropower companies to participate in hydropower generation in Nepal,” said Qiu Guohong, Ambassador of China to Nepal, addressing the Nepal-China Non-Governmental Cooperation Forum meeting here in the valley today.

A personal helicopter weighing just 230 lb created sizzling news when it flew on hydrogen with zero emission. With an ability to carry payloads up to 800 lbs, this pocket Hercules can fly for 90 minutes. Fitted with easy controls, this reaches a speed of 100 knots thanks to a pair of small yet powerful motors mounted on it. Two common and easily available things – Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and a catalyst – combined to bring about a milestone in personal aviation history with attention to the environmental issues as well! Avimech has combined these two to power engine in to an innovative machine.

A team of researchers from the University of Nevada at Reno is out to prove that sludge from a wastewater treatment plant can be dried, powdered, gassified as biofuel, and then burned to generate electricity, which in turn can run equipment at the same treatment plant. Talk about having your cake and eating it, too! The question is whether the researchers can make their sewage sludge-to-biofuel process operate at a cost low enough to compete with the price of conventional fuels.

On September 17, the Thien Tan Joint Stock Company was successful in connecting electricity sources from the Ha Nang Hydroelectric Plant with the national electricity network. The plant has been constructed in Tra Thuy Commune, Tra Bong District, Quang Ngai Province. The plant has capacity of 11MW and totally costs more than VND300 billion. The plant supplies 76 million of KW annually.

The Dakne Hydroelectric Plant in Kon Ray District, Kon Tum Province has started running. The plant started construction in February 2007 and cost more than VND230 billion. Among those, VND180 billion equal to nearly 70 percent of the total capital was sourced from the An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank. The money granted by An Binh Bank was disbursed during the three year construction.

Nowadays, batteries are hardly meeting the normal consumer’s demand regarding their capacity and lifetime. Complaints about laptops whose charge lasts too little, or about electric cars not being able to charge as quick and last as long as gasoline are frequent. Amprius, a US-based company, addresses these issues and develops abattery that they say it can hold double the charge of regular lithium ion batteries.

The project entitled, “Studying, Designing and Manufacturing Large-Diameter, Non-Rotary Pipe-Connection Automatic Welding Equipment Systems” was checked and accepted on September 11 in Hanoi. Dr Hoang Van Chau from the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering is the director of the project with the technology for manufacture of pressure pipelines for small and medium-sized hydropower projects.

This technique has an enormous potential. Only in the United States, for instance, the total surface of roads, highways and open parking lots is estimated in over 100,000 square kilometres. The proposal comes from an American company which, using funds granted by the US Federal Highway Administration, is designing resistant photovoltaic panels on which cars can drive, with tiny prisms built into the surface in order for tyres to grip.
