Can Tho Saves Power: from Slogan to Action

The objectives of the training courses were to guide the enterprises through the identification and assessment of the current use of machinery in the production line, to avoid energy waste.

Responding to the national target communication program on economical and efficient use of energy, Can Tho Power Company actively implements the dissemination of guidelines and policies issued by the State on strengthening the implementation of economical and efficient use of energy to agencies, departments, organizations, businesses and people in the city.

Besides the saving emulation activities promoted in households, the Can Tho Power Company also coordinates with other relevant departments of the city to enact many policies to support and encourage businesses in their efforts of economical and efficient use of energy.

In 2013 and 2014, Can Tho Power Company in collaboration with Energy Conservation Center held training courses on energy saving solutions in energy generation and management system ISO 50001 for 140 Energy managers in the seafood processing enterprises and rice milling facilities in industrial zones within the city.

 

The objectives of the training courses were to guide the enterprises through the identification and assessment of the current use of machinery in the production line, to avoid wasting energy. At the same time, optimal solutions were deployed for energy saving in power consumption system within the corporate production activities.

To improve the operational efficiency of the power saving movement, in 2014, Can Tho Power Company scaled up the power saving emulation throughout the city, attracting 39,764 households with members of Women's Union, Veterans Association, Farmers' Union and the participating people. The Can Tho Power Company collaborated with Can Tho City Youth Union to deploy the installation of compact bulbs for poor farmers, and social policy beneficiaries.

In addition, Can Tho Power Company worked in coordination with Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consultant Center to open training courses on communication skills with the themes: safety in boiler operation, economical and efficient use of energy; operation of industrial refrigeration systems with safety, efficiency and energy saving and a specialized theme on an overview of the energy system in a factory with inverter, energy management, and lighting, all of which help improve the knowledge for workers and managers in the energy units, and enterprises operating in the city.
